Inspired
by the movie Jason and the Argonauts, this was originally part of
a 3 skeleton diorama in what was a defensive stance. The diorama was
eventually broken up and one of the figures was given to a friend
as a gift.
The
kit was originally an old Revell/Monagram kit designed for students'
use in biology and definitely not for a 'warrior' type scenario. All
the joints had to be reinforced with wire so some type of pose could
be achieved, all the finger joints were then cut and reglued to accommodate
the pose I was after.
The
whole skeleton was painted with an enamel flat white then 'washed'
with raw umber. Once the wash was dry it was then carefully wipped
off with a damp cloth and cotton buds for the tight areas. The sheild
was painted with a flat brown and also 'washed' then dry-brushed with
a lighter shade of the brown.
The
weapon is made from a plastic tube with plastic 'fins'. The handle
is string glued in place. All the hand bones were glued in place painted
the stuck to the wrist of the skeleton. The weapon was painted black
then dry brushed with gun metal..
The
sheild is made from balsa wood with scribed joints. The straps are
made from tin foil taken from a 'butter' container then super-glued
into place. The whole wrist and fore arm were stuck to the sheild,
painted, then glued to the rest of the completed skeleton.
